Creating Your Own Luck in Business with Guest Brittni Schroeder

Sep 12, 2024

In this episode of Blogging Breakthroughs with Faith Mariah, my guest Brittni Schroader and I discussed:

  • Both speakers are business and marketing coaches, with one focusing on scaling businesses to six figures and the other on automation and funnels.
  • The idea that luck can be a controllable variable through consistent effort and smart networking was discussed, highlighting an anecdote about achieving significant media features through a passion project.
  • The importance of consistency in tasks such as social media posting was emphasized. One speaker shared their personal goal of posting on specific days and using a structured system to maintain it.
  •  Establishing clear and manageable goals to avoid burnout was discussed. Setting defined tasks like working on a project for a specific amount of time can help maintain productivity and morale.
  • The speakers stressed the importance of creating effective systems (like SOPs) to handle tasks and delegating those that don't align with one's strengths, especially as the business grows and allows for outsourcing.

Luck in business isn't a random event that happens to the fortunate few; it's a skill that anyone can cultivate. In a recent podcast episode with Brittni Schroeder, we talked about the art of creating luck through consistency, personal strengths, and strategic networking. Here are some key takeaways from their conversation that can help you foster your own luck in your business journey.

Consistency: The Bedrock of Success

Both Faith and Brittni emphasize that showing up consistently is crucial to creating business luck. Brittni achieved 10,000 followers on Instagram not through overnight success, but through steady, consistent effort. “I've posted 1,300 times over the course of a few years, consistently Monday through Thursday,” she says. This regularity not only built her audience but also her presence in the industry.

Faith also highlights the importance of consistency paired with clear, actionable goals. Instead of vague intentions like “I need to post more on social media,” define specific goals like “I will post on Instagram Monday through Thursday.” This clarity makes it easier to track progress and sustain effort over the long term. Systems play a pivotal role here, allowing you to manage tasks effectively without burning out.

 Lean Into Your Strengths

It's easier to stay passionate and motivated when you enjoy what you’re doing. Brittni shares this sentiment, emphasizing that you should find what you’re good at and what you enjoy. For instance, if you love writing, focus on blogging. If you enjoy visual storytelling, maybe Instagram or Pinterest is your forte.

Faith advises that when you start seeing success and making money, you can outsource tasks that aren't your strong suit. She herself loves long-form conversations and not necessarily creating short-form videos. Instead of forcing herself to fit into a mold, she delegates those tasks to her team, enabling her to focus on what she does best. This prudent use of resources ensures that your energy is focused on areas where you can shine and make the most impact.

Networking and Opportunities

Both Faith and Brittni underscore the power of networking in creating opportunities, which they consider a significant aspect of ‘business luck.’ For example, Brittni narrates her journey to being featured on Good Morning America and the Wall Street Journal — achievements that stemmed from her efforts in running a photography magazine. This project allowed her to network extensively, making her memorable and increasing her chances of being noticed.

Faith expands on this idea by stressing the importance of putting yourself out there repeatedly. “When you keep showing up, a door will eventually open,” she notes. Luck favors those who are present and persistent.

Systems and Mindset

Finally, creating luck requires a combination of a systematic approach and a positive, open mindset. Establishing structures and routines helps in managing the workload effectively while maintaining consistency. As Faith mentions, having a constructive energy around your work attracts more opportunities. She recalls her early business days filled with excitement and optimism, which she believes magnetized a lot of positive outcomes.

So, if you’re looking to create your own luck in business, start by showing up consistently, leaning into your strengths, and building meaningful networks. By doing these, you set yourself up to be in the right place at the right time when those big opportunities come knocking.
